Squash

By B&B | September 4, 2010

I have already eaten quite a few of the squash, they have come on really well. They needed that long dry spell to take and now the rain just keeps adding bulk to them. It has become like the courgette and just given me more than I know what to do with. Still, soups and pasta and roasts are just lovely summer meals, so I am not too worried.

Courgette Delight

By B&B | September 3, 2010

I have been so impressed this year with the courgette. It has given me so many to eat or give away. I have been experimenting all summer with different soups to try and eat as many as possible. I’ve been quite good and discovered that there are many flavours that go with courgette, such as celery and turmeric. Lovely. ;)

Broad Beans

By B&B | September 2, 2010

My broad beans did well this year as I kept on top of the black fly and got them off as soon as possible. I am quite pleased really as I now have a surfeit of broad beans and can plan some nice meals later in the year as I have frozen most of them.

Sweat Pea

By B&B | September 1, 2010

My sweat pea’s surprised me this year. I thought they would grow much taller but they kept low. I was disappointed as I like the fact they go wild and all over the place.

Beans 2010

By B&B | August 31, 2010

Here are my beans coming on strong in late July. I know it is a bit late to post this, but I am catching up with things as I’ve been a bit slack this year. Sorry.

Lupins

By B&B | August 28, 2010

There is something enigmatic about lupins that I love each year. I cant quite put my finger on it, but I love the way they are so vibrant and silky.

Squash

By B&B | August 20, 2010

Looks sweet doesn’t it? It’s much bigger now and on the plot growing fast in the recent hot weather. I’m hoping for a lot of squash this year as I have plenty of recipes I want to try. I’ll tell you if they work nearer the time.;)

Alium

By B&B | August 18, 2010

I bought these as bulbs from Wilko. I didn’t think they would come to much as I have bought from them before and they are poor. However, I was pleasantly surprised when these came up and were just what I had hoped for.

Being sceptical that they would actually grow I put too many of them in a pot. So next year I will thin them out and put them in two places.

The reason I put them in a pot was that my slugs are voracious eaters and I only had a short copper band. Now I know they will grow I will find a larger one.
