Compost
Digging
Tuesday, October 27th, 2009I have had some time off today so I went to the plot and dug it up. I also dug up some of the strawberries as they were taking over the corner of the plot and the holder next to me was frowning at them a lot last week.
I also emptied out one of the [...]

Friday, May 22nd, 2009This is me planting out the peas last week. As you can see they are the Kelvedon Wonder variety. They should be coming up in the next week or two and I will show you then how they look.

Peas in a Pod
Tuesday, May 19th, 2009I have gone and done it and planted peas this year. I am not trusting them to the soil as mice ate them last year. I have a cunning plan this year……..

Comfry Time
Saturday, May 16th, 2009The comfry is coming on nicely. It’s another plant that bees like, so I am hopeful of attracting them to my plot. Last year the allotment association chopped it down thinking it was a weed when they were tidying up the paths between plots. I mean, you’d think they would know it is great green [...]
Cauliflower
Friday, May 15th, 2009I’ve set the cauliflower yesterday and have put them somewhere warm until they can go out. I don’t like leaving anything out in this weather to be honest. It’s just not summer yet and too cold/windy for them.

Lettuce
Wednesday, May 13th, 2009Today I planted out the lettuce. I have used a grow bag and the cold frame in order to get around the problem of the wind and the not so warm weather at the moment.

Strawberries
Monday, May 11th, 2009Here is a quick look at the strawberries. As you can see it was a little windy when I took the video.
If you are wondering what I am throwing on them, it’s manure. As I didn’t move all of them last year, I feel I need to give the soil a little something to keep [...]
Spuds
Sunday, May 3rd, 2009I have been putting my spuds in this weekend. I have a few rows now.
The video below show the trench after I have put the spuds in and covered them with rotted manure and ash to help them grow.
The next video show me backfilling the trench to cover them up. You can see that I [...]
Latest.
Saturday, March 28th, 2009Actually there isn’t a lot to tell really. I have been busy in the garden rather than the plot. I did go up today to do the composting; I do have rather a lot, which is good for next month I guess. I’m looking forward to emptying them and starting again.
It’s been showers today, so [...]
Update.
Tuesday, February 17th, 2009I went to the plot at the weekend, not to do very much, just add to the composter and take some more sprouts. They seem to be going on forever this year. I am surprised they have survived the snow so well, but they have not become bitter or rotted at all. Mind you, next [...]
Sprouts
Sunday, December 21st, 2008Yet again I have been up to the plot to get some sprouts for Xmas dinner.
On opening the compost bin I saw a blur of brown as a mouse squirmed its way into the bin to avoid me. I could dig it out but that would mean emptying it and I don’t want to do [...]
Weekend Misery
Sunday, December 14th, 2008Went up the plot today to see how it was getting on and to get hold of some more sprouts. They have come on well and the frost has made them sweet. I only picked one stalk today and that should last us the week. I am about to cook some with carrots as the [...]
