Fences

Friday, March 12th, 2010

There are plenty of old fences around about. These caught my eye while out and about.

Snow Road

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

This is a dangerous road near me – too many trees with flowers on. The snow and ice made it worse.

Snow Tree

Monday, March 8th, 2010

It has been cold of late round here and I have only just had a chance to put these pics up from last month.
Brrr. Cold.

January

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

Well, the snow has finally gone and I have been to the plot. It’s water-logged of course after all the snow and then the rain.
I dug up a leek for cooking, but didn’t do much else. I will wait a while before going back to working on it. There are other things to do right [...]

Winding Down

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

It's that time of year when most of the veg has grown and gone - well, to the store really so we can enjoy it later on.
So, today I have been grubbing up a line of strawberries that were encroaching on the plot next door. It's also time to get rid of them as they [...]

Digging Up Potatoes

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

I have been digging up my potatoes this bank holiday. I had quite a few Desiree and some Cara. The latter are a particular favourite of the slugs and so the crop was not as good as I would like. Still, there are enough to keep me going through the winter.
I took them home and [...]

Allotment Are Painful.

Monday, June 29th, 2009

I saw this in the news today and thought of you all.

Parsnips

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

I put the parsnips in today. They have grown on OK at home and now need to go out.
I’m looking forward to these for Xmas and beyond. It seems such a long time to wait for them, but then I don’t really want summer to be over as I wont be in the garden then.

Potatoes

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

I checked on the growing potatoes at the weekend and they are looking good. They are not as far along as other people’s but then I did put them in late.
The weather has been up and down of late. We have had days of very hot weather and then days of rain. It’s playing havoc [...]

Courgettes

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

I planted out my courgettes this week. I’m hoping that the slugs will not find them as tasty as I do. We will see. I have held a couple back in case of the inevitable.

Runner Beans

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

The beans are out now too. Once again, I hope the slugs do not eat them. But it has rained a little lately and that encourages them to eat.

Bees

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

Talking of bees the other day. Here is one that was in my garden looking for a suitable place to settle and get warm as it’s not been hot of late and they are out and about.
I love the gossamer look to the wings and the wrap around shades for eyes.
